Fall has finally arrived, the temperature is cooling, days are getting shorter, the colors are energizing, and I’m wondering: what happened? In a nutshell, ¾ of a year, that’s what, but so far, a really good year filled with good family times, music making, not too much travel, and maybe a little more time at home.
I recently made a brief trip to Canada with Steve Brown and the fine folks from Key Life Ministries. It was great to hear Steve again, who these days, is talking a lot about the masks people tend to construct and hide behind, al la his latest book Hidden Agendas. It’s Steve at his best, and I highly recommend it.
I've had a great time playing the songs from my latest CD release, Someday. I love seeing how these songs have connected so well with concert audiences of all kinds. I made a short video to share what it’s all about, and you’ll find that posted on the Media: Video section of this site.
For the rest of this year I’ll be travelling quite a bit, with dates in South Carolina, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Illinois, Indiana, West Virginia, Ohio, Mississippi, and Georgia – Whew! – check out the calendar page, see if one of those dates is nearby, and come on out if you can. And bring friends!
A few years ago I was introduced to Nashville A Rocha, a Christian conservation organization. I loved learning about their mission to equip Christians to know and love their local habitats through practical community-focused conservation.
Consequently, I was invited to participate in a songwriting project that resulted in From Smallest Seed, a CD produced by Sandra McCracken as a way to raise money and awareness for A Rocha and its mission. The songwriters/artists were some of my favorites and I was honored to be included.
I’m happy to announce the release of a second CD, entitled Together In The Harvest, a 10 song compilation and great follow-up to the first project. I encourage you to go HERE and learn more about A Rocha.
You’ll be able to hear samples from both of these wonderful projects and hopefully like what you hear enough to download them and make a donation.
Mary, Did You Know?
It’s been 25 years since Mark Lowry and I collaborated on the song, “Mary, Did You Know?”, and we continue to be amazed at the “life of its own” this song continues to have. Acclaimed freelance journalist and author Deborah Evans Price interviewed Mark and me together and will be publishing the article in the November/December issue of Homecoming Magazine. We had a lot of fun that day, and I hope you'll have the opportunity to pick up a copy. As the Christmas season approaches, I hope and pray that the mystery of the Incarnation will begin to fill you with new wonder and expectations for all that God is accomplishing through the gift of his son.
